May Day about Dietary Supplements / Herbs

It is quite possible that some people exist on the globe who do not need special nutritional supplements to their food - either in the form of certain vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids or other nutrients.
In the modern, western world conditions exist that often increase the body's need for nutrients in variable degrees, mostly being exposed to well-known phenomena, and here should be mentioned:

  • Car exhaust

  • Smoking, actively and passively

  • An exaggerated consumption of alcohol

  • Intakt of medicine

  • Sugar plus food and drinks containing sugar

  • Meat with residues of hormones- and antibiotics

  • Water with residues of pesticides

  • Food with colourants, preservatives and other additives

  • Heavy metals - especially mercury dental fillings

  • Toxic fumes from artificial materials in our environment

  • Stress

These are all factors that demands big amounts of nutrients. If the body's need for these nutrients are covered, the body will to a certain degree adopt itself to handle the demands of the environment.

This is one of the reasons why May Day wishes free access to dietary supplements and herbs, so that people have that possibility to take good care of their health, if they so choose.

May Day do not see dietary supplements as a substitution for a healthy diet; though we believe it is a myth that we automatically get all the necessary nutrients we need through our diet alone.

After all, whether people want to use dietary supplements or not must be their own choice.
