May Day about dentistry

We can all do a lot our selves to prevent tooth decay and problems, by e.g. taking care about the hygiene and a good mineral balance, but everybody will from time to time need dental care and treatment.

Fluoride

It might be useful to know that fluoride has earlier been used as an insecticide and ratpoison.

Mercury fillings

The use of mercury in dentistry seem to be an important health challenge in the industrialized part of the world.

Mercury amalgam is a alloy containing circa 50% of the very toxic heavy metal mercury. Mercury is poisonous for all people; though it impacts some people more than others.

In some cases there is circumstantial indications showing the use of mercury in dental fillings being strongly invalidating, because cronic mercury poisoning can develop as a result of slowseepage into the organism.

Still the Danish health authorities are hesitating banning mercury amalgam in dental fillings. One can wonder why, when nobody is doubting that mercury is creating a heavy environmental load.

Heavy metals are toxic and they weaken the human organism, produces damaging free radicals and finally pollutes our environment. With this knowledge, would it not be time to begin using alternative solutions for dental fillings, and stop letting mercury out in nature?
